This also includes hip capping where it runs tightly against the adjacent roof valley. Once this is done, the tiles along the affected valley are gently lifted and stored for reuse. We then remove all the old mortar, storing it in buckets to dispose of later at the local recyling center.

-Old Roof Valley Iron Removal
The damaged or rusted roof valley iron is then carefully removed to make way for the installation of a new, durable replacement.

-New Zincalume/Colorbond Valley Iron Installation
We then install new Zincalume or Colorbond roof valley irons, which are highly durable and designed to last in the harsh Australian weather.

-Roof Valley Seal Installation
Once the new roof valley iron is installed, we apply roof valley seal — a flexible, bitumen-coated length of foam designed to adhere firmly to the roof valley below and the tiles above. Roof Valley Seal Installation – Why We Don’t Use Traditional Mortar

4. Why don’t you rebed or repoint roof valleys with cement mortar?

We don’t install traditional cement mortar along roof valleys because it can crack and deteriorate over time. Moisture can also become trapped beneath the mortar, potentially accelerating corrosion of the metal valley.

Instead, we install flexible valley seal where appropriate. This provides a protective barrier without bedding the edges of the valley iron in cement.

Ridge caps are different. Where necessary, we still professionally rebed and repoint ridge caps, including those removed during a valley replacement.
