Recent Project – Roof Restoration Hampton
Complete Roof Restoration in Hampton – Valley Replacement & Burgundy Finish
We recently completed this roof restoration in Hampton on a roof that was around 50 years old and in desperate need of restoration.
The homeowner was renovating the entire house from top to bottom and wanted to make sure the roof was properly restored before the rest of the renovation was completed. The house was currently gutted, allowing the renovation to progress from the roof down.
The existing roof required pressure cleaning, repointing and valley replacement before it could be properly restored and painted.
After spending considerable time deciding on the right colour, the homeowner chose Burgundy to maintain a more traditional look that suited the character of the home.
Hampton Roof Restoration – Project Details
Location: Hampton
Roof age: Approximately 50 years old
Roof condition: Ageing roof requiring restoration and repairs
Roof preparation: High-pressure cleaning
Roof repairs: Repointing and valley replacement
Valley system: ValleySeal installed
Coating system: 1 coat Regent High Build Sealer + 2 coats Regent Tileguard
Final colour: Burgundy
Restoration type: Complete roof restoration
The result was a fully restored roof that retained the traditional character of the property while giving the home a fresh, well-maintained appearance.
Scope of Works
Pressure Cleaning the Existing Roof
The first stage of the restoration was a thorough high-pressure roof clean of the existing roof.
At approximately 50 years old, the roof had accumulated significant dirt and surface build-up over time.
Cleaning the roof properly allowed the condition of the tiles, pointing and valley to be assessed before the repair and coating stages began.
For an older roof in need of restoration, this preparation is important because it reveals the condition of the existing roof rather than simply coating over years of build-up.
Repointing the Roof
The existing roof pointing required attention as part of the restoration.
The roof was fully repointed to restore the ridge and hip areas and provide a sound finished surface before the coating system was applied.
This was an important part of the overall restoration because the aim was to properly address the condition of the 50-year-old roof rather than simply change its colour.
Valley Replacement and ValleySeal Installation
The roof also required vvalley replacement.
The existing valley was replaced and ValleySeal was installed as part of the restoration work.
Roof valleys are an important part of the drainage system because they direct rainwater from the roof into the guttering system.
Replacing the valley as part of the restoration addressed an important functional component of the roof before the final coating system was applied.
Three-Coat Roof Coating System
Once the roof cleaning and repair work was completed, the roof was prepared for the new roof painting system.
The roof received:
1 coat Regent High Build Sealer + 2 coats Regent Tileguard
The sealer provided the foundation for the finishing coats, followed by two coats of Regent Tileguard to complete the roof coating system.
Regent Tileguard Burgundy
The final colour was Burgundy.
The homeowner spent considerable time deciding on the right colour because he wanted to retain a traditional appearance for the home.
With the entire house undergoing renovation, the roof was an important part of maintaining the property’s existing character.
The Burgundy finish provided a traditional look while giving the restored roof a fresh and consistent appearance.
Restoring the Roof Before Finishing the House
This Hampton project was part of a much larger renovation, with the homeowner working through the house from the top down.
That approach made sense for the property because the roof was one of the first major areas requiring attention.
With so much work being invested into the rest of the house, the homeowner wanted the 50-year-old roof properly restored rather than leaving an ageing and deteriorated roof above the newly renovated home.
The restoration addressed the roof cleaning, pointing and valley before the final coating system was applied.
The result was a roof that was properly restored as part of the wider renovation, rather than simply given a new colour.
The Result – Burgundy Roof Restoration Hampton
The completed roof restoration transformed the ageing 50-year-old roof while retaining the traditional character the homeowner wanted.
The roof was pressure cleaned, repointed and fitted with a replacement valley and ValleySeal before receiving one coat of Regent High Build Sealer followed by two coats of Regent Tileguard in Burgundy.
The final result complemented the renovation and gave the home a fresh, traditional appearance.
Most importantly, the roof received the repair and preparation work it needed before the new coating system was applied.

Roof Restoration in Hampton
This Hampton project is a good example of why an older roof should be properly assessed and restored before simply being painted.
The 50-year-old roof required pressure cleaning, repointing and valley replacement before the coating system could be applied.
With the repair work completed, the roof received one coat of Regent High Build Sealer followed by two coats of Regent Tileguard in Burgundy.
The finished roof now forms part of the wider renovation while retaining the traditional character of the home.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does roof restoration cost in Hampton?
The cost of roof restoration in Hampton depends on the size, age and condition of the roof and the amount of repair work required. A roof needing repointing and valley replacement will cost more than a roof requiring only cleaning and painting. An inspection is the best way to determine the work required and provide an accurate quote.
Does roof restoration include valley replacement?
It can. If a roof valley is damaged, deteriorated or no longer suitable, valley replacement can form part of a complete roof restoration. For this Hampton project, the existing valley was replaced and ValleySeal was installed before the roof was coated.
Does an old roof need to be replaced or can it be restored?
An older roof does not necessarily need to be replaced. If the existing roof is suitable for restoration, repairs such as repointing and valley replacement can be completed before the roof is cleaned, sealed and painted. This 50-year-old Hampton roof was restored rather than replaced.
What is the difference between roof restoration and roof painting?
Roof painting is primarily the preparation and application of a new coating system. Roof restoration can involve additional repair work such as repointing, rebedding and valley replacement before the roof is painted. This Hampton project involved both roof repairs and a complete three-coat coating system.
How many coats are used when painting a restored roof?
The coating system depends on the roof and products being used. For this Hampton restoration, the roof received one coat of Regent High Build Sealer followed by two coats of Regent Tileguard in Burgundy.
