Dark Charcoal Roof Transformation in Frankston – Complete Cement Tile Roof Restoration & Full Rebedding

This recent roof restoration project in Frankston involved transforming a heavily faded and weathered cement tile roof that had lost almost all of its original colour.

Over many years, exposure to Melbourne’s changing weather conditions had caused significant fading, staining, and deterioration across the roof surface. The cement tiles had become dull and lifeless, with very little colour remaining, making the roof look aged and affecting the overall presentation of the property.

Rather than replacing the existing roof, our team restored the original cement tiles through a complete roof restoration process, including full rebedding, repointing, professional preparation, and a premium three-coat roof painting system.

The homeowners were also completing a full renovation of the property, and the new Dark Charcoal roof colour was selected to complement the home’s existing red brick exterior. The darker roof finish created a modern contrast against the brickwork while helping bring the entire property together.

Scope of Works – Roof Restoration Frankston

✔ High-Pressure Roof Cleaning & Surface Preparation

The entire cement tile roof was professionally pressure cleaned to remove years of built-up dirt, grime, moss, staining, and weathering.

The cleaning process exposed the true condition of the cement tiles, revealing extensive colour loss caused by years of exposure. Proper preparation was a critical part of the restoration process to ensure the new coating system achieved strong adhesion and a long-lasting finish.

✔ Full Cement Tile Roof Rebedding & Repointing

Due to the age and condition of the roof, the ridge caps required a complete rebedding process.

Full re-bedding involves removing the existing bedding material, preparing the ridge areas, and reinstalling the ridge caps using new bedding to restore their stability and structural integrity.

This is a more extensive restoration process compared to standard repointing and is only required when the original bedding has deteriorated over time.

Following the rebedding process, the ridge areas were professionally re-pointed using a flexible pointing compound designed to handle temperature movement and Melbourne’s changing weather conditions.

Completing both rebedding and repointing helped restore the strength, appearance, and weather protection of the roof.

✔ Three-Coat Roof Painting System in Dark Charcoal

The roof was completed using a premium three-coat roof painting system:

1 x sealer coat
2 x top coats in Regent Ultra Dark Charcoal
