Modern Makeover for a Classic Weatherboard Home

We recently completed a striking metal roof restoration in Chelsea Heights, working on a beautiful old weatherboard home that was ready for a contemporary update. The original Colorbond metal roof had become faded and dull over the years, no longer matching the charm or character of the home. The owners were after a bold new look that would modernise the entire property — and black was the perfect choice.

To begin, we thoroughly pressure cleaned the Colorbond roof, removing years of built-up grime, chalking, and any loose or flaking paint. Proper surface preparation is crucial when repainting metal roofing, especially near the coast where salt air can accelerate wear. With the roof fully cleaned and dry, we then applied a high-quality Nutech metal primer, specially formulated to bond to metal and provide a strong foundation for topcoats.

Once primed, we applied two coats of premium roof membrane paint in a rich Black finish. This three-coat system not only delivers a dramatic, ultra-modern look but also provides long-lasting protection against UV, corrosion, and weathering. The new black roof contrasts beautifully with the light weatherboards, giving the home a sharp, refreshed street appeal that feels both timeless and contemporary.
